South Dakota Rangeland Days
Rangeland Days is an opportunity to learn more about one of the most important South Dakota resources, our rangelands. Learning activities have been designed for a variety of age groups and expertise, from 8 years old through adult. Starting with plant morphology and identification on up to judging habitat suitability for cattle or grouse, everyone attending Rangeland Days is sure to gain from participating.
Divisions are determined by experience level and age as of January 1:
New Rangers 8–10 years
Wranglers 11–13 years
Scouts 14–18 years
Go Getters 14–18 years
Old Rangers Adults Scouts is for students who have little or no range judging experience.
After a day of active learning, the participants will have the opportunity to measure how much they have learned by participating in a contest, again designed specifically for their age level and expertise.
